Forestry Management Services
Forestry management at Reclaim Land Services is about making a woodlot do more: grow better timber, hold more wildlife, shed the invasive species that choke it, and stay that way. Working from West Alexandria across the Dayton area, we combine an agronomist's eye for what the land can support with the equipment to act on it: forestry mulching, selective removal, trail work and habitat planting.
Sustainable management means choosing which trees stay, not clearing everything and starting over. Rodney Creech grew up managing family farmland and woods and applies the same long view to hunting properties, private acreage, parks and community land.

Which Trees Stay, Which Go, and Why
A healthy woodlot has a mix of ages, species and openings. Most southwest Ohio woods have the opposite: a closed canopy, a honeysuckle layer that shades out every seedling, and deer that pass through without staying. We mark crop trees, remove the competition and open the understory in stages, so the woods keep functioning while they improve.
For landowners who hunt, habitat comes first. That usually means edge cover, corridors and plots placed for wind and access. For parks and community land it means safer, more open woods with the invasives under control. Heavy land clearing is available where an area needs a full reset.

What is timber stand improvement?
Thinning a woodlot on purpose: removing weak, crowded or low-value trees, so the best ones grow faster and healthier. It improves both timber value and habitat.
How do you decide which trees stay?
By species, health, spacing and your goals. Mast producers like oak and hickory usually stay; invasives and crowded, damaged trees usually go. Everything is marked and walked with you before cutting.
Do you manage woods for deer and turkey?
Yes. Habitat work for hunting land, including cover, corridors and food plots, is a large part of our forestry schedule.
Will you clear-cut?
Only when a landowner wants an area fully reset. Our default is selective work that keeps the woods a woods.
