Wildlife Food Plot Seeding & Planting
Food plot planting is where Reclaim Land Services brings the farm and the woods together. Rodney Creech is a fourth-generation farmer with an agronomy degree, so plots get treated like the crops they are: soil tested, ground prepared, seed matched to the site and planted at the right time for southwest Ohio. The result is a productive plot that draws and holds whitetail deer and wild turkeys instead of a green patch that fades by October.
We prepare, seed and plant plots on hunting land and recreational property around Dayton and beyond, from small kill plots tucked into timber to multi-acre destination fields, and we can clear the opening first with our forestry equipment.

Planting at the Right Time for Ohio
Timing does most of the work in a food plot. Clover and alfalfa go in early spring or late summer; brassicas, turnips and radishes are planted mid to late summer so they bulb before the rut; cereal grains like winter wheat and oats follow in early fall. We plan the mix around when you hunt and what the whitetail deer and wild turkeys in your area are short on, and we plant when the soil and forecast say so, not when the calendar does.
Because we farm, we bring the same equipment to your plot that we run on our own ground: tractors, seeders and the know-how to read a soil test. Plots can be built as part of a larger habitat plan or on their own.

Food Plot Questions
When do you plant food plots in Ohio?
Clover in early spring or late summer, brassicas in July and August, cereal grains in September. We schedule around your hunting season and the weather.
What do you plant?
Clover, alfalfa, brassica blends, winter wheat, oats, rye and soybeans, chosen for your soil, sunlight and goals. Clover and chufa are strong turkey draws; brassicas and cereal grains carry deer through late season.
Do you prepare the ground too?
Yes. Clearing, bush hogging, tillage, lime and fertilizer are all part of the service; you can hand us an overgrown opening and get back a planted plot.
How big should a plot be?
Kill plots of a quarter acre work in timber; destination plots of one to three acres hold deer and turkeys through the season. We will suggest sizes after walking the property.
