Finding Where the Water Wants to Go
Every drainage project starts with a walk after rain if we can get one. We look at where water enters, how the soil holds it, and what the lowest legal outlet is: a ditch, a storm structure, a pond or simply a spot where the pipe can reach daylight. Then we choose the system. Groundwater calls for perforated pipe and gravel; roof water needs solid pipe; a sloped lawn that sheets water toward the house may just need regrading.
Trenching is done with our own excavation equipment, and the surface is graded, topsoiled and seeded when the pipe is in. Farms and larger properties get the same care at field scale with drain tile.

Drainage Questions
What is the difference between a French drain and drain tile?
Same idea, different scale. A French drain is a gravel trench with perforated pipe, usually in a yard. Drain tile is buried perforated pipe laid across fields or large lawns in a pattern to lower the water table.
How do you figure out where the water should go?
We trace where it enters and pools, check the grade and soil, and find the lowest safe outlet. If there is no natural outlet we build one with a dry well or basin.
Do you install farm and field tile?
Yes. Field tile, pasture drainage and outlet work are part of the schedule every year.
Will my yard be torn up?
Trenches are narrow and backfilled as soon as the pipe is in, then graded, topsoiled and seeded.
Can you fix water in my basement?
If the source is surface or groundwater around the foundation, exterior drainage often solves it. Interior waterproofing is a different trade, and we will tell you if that is what you need.
